The Inspiring Story of How We Started
I was a stay at home mother of two boys ages 2 and 3. I heard about a princess who came to a friend’s house, and all she did was paint nails. I started thinking; with my background in acting and as a play therapist for children, I was passionate about inspiring creativity in children. Suddenly it all came together. I designed a program and a story that would inspire and encourage children. My goal was to teach children social skills through my stories. I found a costume designer and with the help of a friend, I designed my website. Within weeks my site became the top of Google without my signing up for it. It was as if it was meant to be. After a couple of years I stopped working as a social worker and started working as a full time princess!
Our Mission Statement
We believe in encouraging children’s imagination. Drama and creative exercises help children to learn; to grow emotionally, to gain self confidence; to relate positively towards other and to think independently. The Fairytale Princess encourages children to express their creative lives through drama, dance and music.
About Heidi Emmer
Heidi Emmer LLC, owner has a Master's Degree in Social Work. (LCSW-C Licensed in Maryland.) She worked with Families and Children for 10 years as a social worker and at Montgomery General Hospital. Ms. Emmer facilitated groups for children and teens with emotional difficulties as well as adults with mental illness. Ms. Emmer has worked as an actress and singer in the local DC area. She performed in musical theatre, repertoire theatre and film. Some of her credits include: Anya in the Cherry Orchard; the lead role in films, Terror in the Pharoah's Tomb and "Falsettos" and "The Higgins Show," plus she played roles in various commercials .
